Our Judges

We are delighted to announce our panel of judges for the inaugural Domeble Symetri student awards 2023. The scope of our selected judging panel bring a huge amount of industry experience to the competition, each a leading voice in their field, collectively adding an impressive range of knowledge to the judges chamber. As well as this years judges we have a selection of studio managers, design directors, visualisation leads monitoring the awards from JLR, McLaren, Nissan, Bentley and AML.

Carl Lyttle

Carl Lyttle Photography & Founder of Domeble

Carl is one of the world’s leading automotive image-makers, and early adopter of the use of CGI within his industry. With his proficiency in creating and developing 360° HDRIs, he established the first CG ready photographic library of its kind in 2007.

Now he leads his specialist team at Domeble with an astute focus on future technologies and the exploration of VR and mixed realities.

Nick John

Symetri - Industrial Design & Visualisation Manager

Managing Symetri’s Industrial Design and Visualisation (ID&V) department, Nick and his team assist clients to develop digital strategies across the entire spectrum of industrial design and visualisation. Originally an industrial designer, Nick has been working primarily in the automotive sector as a digital design consultant for over a decade with a focus on design, digital modelling, visualisation and XR.

With a combination of hands on industry experience and close partnerships with leading design software developers, Nick is uniquely positioned to identify and advise clients on emerging tools, trends and technology and how best to integrate them into their design pipeline. Nick also manages the training program known as the Academy, widely recognised across both industry and academia as the best in class training centre for professionals and students.

Coline Thibaut

The Swatch Group - Product CG Artist

Creative French CG Artist who left her home country in 2013 after she graduated from Rubika International School of Design to join the British automotive design industry.

Lead Automotive CG Artist at Optic Group, Coline then joined Bentley Motors Design department as 3D visualisation specialist. After 6 years into the Automotive industry, Coline made a jump last year by joining the Watch design industry at The Swatch Group in Switzerland. Also passionate by performing arts, Coline loves to use the artistic approach of storytelling and emotion to create the best visual experience for customers.

Henry Morshead

Hill Helicopters - Chief Designer

Henry is a specialist designer in the aerospace, automotive and motorsport sectors, and can be found wherever design, brand and high performance meet.

Although Henry has a long history working with large OEMs across Europe, responsible for the production surfacing for prestigious projects like Jaguar’s C-X75, he is equally at home operating within a startup environment.

He is currently responsible for the interior/exterior design and digital modelling of the HX50 private helicopter. Building on the synergies between specialisations, Henry studied Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College and Vehicle Design at the Royal College of Art. He has since led digital modelling teams in Alias and ICEMSurf. He is also a leading cutaway illustrator and an ambassador for the Bloodhound supersonic car project.

Iain Ross

Motorvated Creative - Founder & Automotive Creative Director

Iain is the Creative Director at Motorvated Creative, founded in 2007 as a multidisciplinary ‘strategic-creative-resource’ - a consultancy that is dedicated to working within the international automotive / motorcycle / marine / aerospace brand communications sectors.

As a consultant Creative Director, he divides his time between collaborating with advertising agencies in the UK, Europe and in the US, and also working with car brand clients through a direct creative relationship basis as well, and working on key car accounts for some of the world’s most renown agencies including Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Springer & Jacoby and Saatchi & Saatchi, with campaigns and projects for brands like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Toyota, Lexus, Maserati, Renault, Ford, Opel, Volvo, Hyundai and the UK Space Agency respectively.

Over more recent years, he has been a major component in creating many communications strategies, concepts and multidisciplinary automotive campaigns for international automotive brands. Delivering key visual assets (created in both the studio and out on location), across the broad photography and film sectors - and in particular through the medium of CGI, for clients like Yamaha, Kia and Bentley Motors.

Saurabh Shah

Multidisciplinary Automotive Designer and Concept Modeller

Saurabh is a multidisciplinary automotive designer and concept modeller, he started his career in Italy and has since worked for brands such as Lamborghini, VW, McLaren and Jaguar. Moving back to the UK meant being closer to home and closer to the place it all started, Coventry University, where he taught automotive design as a visiting lecturer for 3 years. Now having established The Creacion Automotive Mentorship Program he is helping young creative minds to find their way into the industry as well as continuing to work as a designer.

Charles Naden-Lamb

Drive - CG Generalist and 2022 DSSA Student of the Year

Charles studied CGI and VFX for film at Staffordshire University, where he developed skills in visualisation that naturally dovetailed with his love of cars. From this he developed a full automotive visualisation portfolio that helped him graduate immediately into a roll at Drive Design as a CG generalist.

Charles is a two time Gold award winner in the Domeble Symetri Student Awards (not to mention the many silver and merit awards he bagged also). We are delighted to have Charles on board as a judge for this years awards, continuing our tradition of having the previous years winner join the judging panel.

Sam Ofsowitz

Digital Concept Modeller & Car Design Podcast Host

Sam is a digital concept modeller and podcast host from South Africa. He studied Transport and Product Design at Coventry University and has worked for Jaguar, Volvo, VW, Bentley, and Bugatti. He is currently based in Germany where he is working independently as a designer, modeller, and filmmaker.
