Entry is open to those studying a recognised National Qualification Course in the United Kingdom ( students studying remotely as part of a UK course are also eligible ). Students living or studying overseas can enter the International Student Award providing they are enrolled on an educational college / university course. To enter you must be studying at higher or further education level. However, please note that you must be over the age of 18 to attend the exhibition opening party. We will accept entries to the competition from students who were in active study with a college or university at the competition launch date of October 12th.
Work submitted must not have previously been successful in any other competition in any form.
2. Entry procedure and format
Entries may only be submitted online through the upload portal links under each category description.
Each Entrant can submit an unlimited number of entries, but each image can only be entered once into any single category.
3. Entry specifications
Images should be in the sRGB colour-space, in JPEG format and no larger than 2500px at its widest dimension.HDRI 360’s should be in .exr or .hdr format, full resolution, with a maximum file size of 1GB. The .exr/.hdr files should also be accompanied by a tone mapped jpeg of the 360° HDRI, no larger than 2500px at its widest dimension. The accompanying tone mapped jpeg images are for competition administration purposes only, and will not form part of your entry.You can name each image file as you wish, however, when the entry is successfully uploaded and logged in our on-line entry system, it will be re-saved with a new unique filename to preserve anonymity during judging.
Please note – Quicktime .MOV, Flash .SWF and Windows WMV files will not be accepted, nor will .OGG or WebM encoding\
VR entries should include a Vimeo or Youtube link to a 360-video of your entry that shows your entry to its full immersive potential and highlight any interactivity that you may have as part of your scene. Your video must be no longer than 5 minutes long.
VR / 360 Content: Virtual Reality Projects: Projects must be viewable via one of our accepted VR platforms (including: Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR, or Google Cardboard). We request that you provide a vimeo or Youtube link to a 360° video file (.mp4, url), app download package (.apk) – all posted on a url. Ensure that your entry shows your project to its full immersive potential and highlight any interactivity that you may have as part of your scene. Your video must be no longer than 5 minutes long.
On-line entry will be open from 9.00am Monday, 9th November 2020, until 12.00 noon on Friday 30th July 2021.
Entries received after these dates will not be accepted.
Entrants will be notified of the Judges’ decision by email by 11th August 2021, and finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony on Tuesday 10th September 2021.
5. Risk and insurance
DomebleLtd and Symetri UK make every effort to ensure that the reproduction of images is of the highest standard, we are unable to guarantee the quality of the reproduction in printed or digital material.
6. Copyright and warranty
DSSA selected entries may be reproduced on the Domeble and Symetri websites and in all social media channels and publications as well as used in various additional, external publications to promote these Awards including, but not limited to, print, internet, moving image, CD-ROM or other electronic media.
The DSSA and the DSSA Student Awards sponsor(s) and partner(s) reserve the right to reproduce, without fee or prior permission, any work submitted to the DSSA 2021 solely in connection with promoting the Student Awards. This right is granted for a period of up to 18 months from the date that on-line entry closes. All entries will be credited to the copyright owner where entries are published by the Domeble or Symetri through DSSA channels but Domeble limited and Symetri cannot provide any guarantees where entries are published by third-parties in connection with the promotion of the Student Awards, but every effort will be made to ensure that appropriate credits are in place.
Each Entrant shall be deemed to warrant that:
(a) they own the entire copyright in the image or video entered;
(b) where joint copyright exists in the image, that the Entrant has the necessary authority and permissions to enter the image into the Awards;
(c) if the work is commissioned it is submitted with the permission of the commissioner; (d) all necessary model releases and permissions have been obtained; and
(e) any clearances necessary under the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended) have been obtained.
The Entrant undertakes to indemnify Domeble Limited and Symetri and its sponsors in respect of any breach of the above warranty.
The DSSA reserves the right to use its own discretion throughout the Student Awards process, which may include: disqualifying any entry not complying with the rules or amalgamating categories if they are under-subscribed.
There will be no appeal against the decision of the judges which is final and no correspondence will be entered into in connection with the judging.
By entering the Domeble Symetri Student Awards you are deemed to have accepted all the terms and conditions of entry.
