The prestigious flagship award for the best college / university will be awarded to the institution that the judges feel has contributed the best entries into the competition that display great technical ability and creative vision.
This award will only apply to colleges / universities in the UK.
CGI / 3D DESIGN CATEGORIES
Best Automotive (Transport & Mobility) 3D/CAD design in a Backplate scene
Entries into this category must show an original design developed, originated and built in a 3D software package. The subject matter must be automotive ( exterior or interior will be accepted ), and can be as retro or as futuristic as you wish. The judges will be looking for technical 3d skills, modelling / surfacing / texturing skills and creative vision.
Your design entry should include aspect views of your model as a wireframe or clay representation, and should also be presented and integrated into a single scene of your choice as a single finished image ( photographic or otherwise ).
Best 3D/CAD design in a Backplate scene ( Non Automotive )
Entries into this category must show an original design developed, originated and built in a 3D software package. The subject matter can be anything you choose that is non automotive, and can be as retro or as futuristic as you wish. The judges will be looking for technical 3d skills, modelling / surfacing / texturing skills and creative vision.

Your animation should show your 3D design as a finished and textured model integrated into a scene of your choice ( real or otherwise ).
Best 3D Animation ( Non Automotive )

VR CATEGORIES
Best VR Project Automotive (Transport & Mobility)

The judges are looking for entries that show any Automotive 3D model or models of your choosing in a VR scene. The flow of the scene can be anything of your choosing, but the objective is to capture the immersion of VR in the most creative scenario you can create.
The judges will view your entry via a Vimeo or Youtube link to a 360-video that shows your entry to its full immersive potential and highlight any interactivity that you may have as part of your scene. Your video must be no longer than 5 minutes long.

Best VR Project Non Automotive
The judges are looking for entries that show any non automotive3D model or models of your choosing in a VR scene. The flow of the scene can be anything of your choosing, but the objective is to capture the immersion of VR in the most creative scenario you can create.
The judges will view your entry via a Vimeo or Youtube link to a 360-video that shows your entry to its full immersive potential and highlight any interactivity that you may have as part of your scene. Your video must be no longer than 5 minutes long.

Best Interactive VR Project
Entries into this category must show a photographic scene that a 3D object can be placed. The entry must have at least 6 backplates of the scene that show the creative possibilities of how you interpret the scene, and must include a profile view and a front ( or rear ) 3/4 view. The scene must also have a scene matched 360° HDRI shot with the same lighting and in the same location as the backplates.
The judges will be looking for the best use of interactivity within a VR scene, this can be anything you wish from in view information to engaging with content within your scene – there are no limitations to the type of project you want to submit.
CGI PHOTOGRAPHY CATEGORIES
Best HDRI / Backplate Set
The judges will be looking for creativity, technical skills and a deep dynamic range in the HDRI. Please follow the technical requirements listed here to be sure your entry qualifies for this category.
Best CGI Automotive Image
The scene can be static or motion rigged.
The judges will be looking for dynamic images that show good understanding of render layers, creativity and scene integration.

Best International Student
We have added this category to our awards programme as a response to the huge global interest in the competition from 3D / CGI photography students around the world.
This category is an open brief, and will be judged as 3 separate awards that will be required to follow the criteria from the other categories above. As an international student, you can enter any section of the awards detailed providing they are entered in one of the following headers.
1. CGI / 3D Design
2. VR
3. CGI Photography
The winners will be selected by our judges, and a best international student award will be awarded to the winner of each of the 3 listed categories above.
